PLAAS PARTYTJIE / Farm Party

March 2010

Dis partytjie tyd.

Sommer gesmelte sjokolade in plaas diere gemaak.

Die hoenders, koeie en ander diere vorms is deur die kinders ingekleur tydens die partytjie. Maklike manier om hulle te kry om stil te sit vir ‘’n paar minute.

Balkie vir die eregas.

Pirates Party - 1 year

January 2010

My Griffen turned ONE the 12th of January. How time flies !!! I had this idea in my head and just ran with it ... I first sent out a "save the date" mail to all the maaitjies. Then, in early January I sent out the Invitations which I made myself. Because we were trying to save on costs, I did EVERYTHING myself (the cake with my sister's help). I rented the chairs and tables with the covers from "Vergeet-my-nie" in Centurion. I made some boxes with some sweeties and goodies in for the kids, with a scull & crossbones picture on it and every child's name & their pirate name. (Here I had to use my own imagination). I got some material with sculls on, cut out large squares and rolled them up for a bandanna and attached a eye patch for each child. The pirate ship in the middle is my nephews LEGO ... Can you believe how lego has changed ... The usual other party stuff I got at a party shop in Eco Park Centre. The Flags I made from colored paper. The cake was a mission and a half, but it came out a success after a few hours of trying hehe (Thanks to my sis). My mom also made the rice crispy cupcakes (marshmallows, butter and ricecrispies) and inserted a coin in the middle !!! It was really fun to do it all myself ... And it makes you sooooo proud. Luckily I didn't have to pay a photographer as I am a photographer myself !!! Kind Regards, Mommy Monique @ Griffen's 1st Bday as a Pirate !!!

Pony Party - 5 years

November 2009

I have just arranged a Pony Party for my little girl's 5th birthday. She's crazy about horses.
The invitations were classically her inviting everyone to gallop over to her party.
For party favours I made rosettes from crinkle paper, cut out horses with each little one's name on it to colour in and decorate with glitter and wool for mane and tails, and of course the party pack in a plastic bucket with sweets, chips and a horsey gift.
The cake was a carrot cake decorated as a paddock with horses and trees, and I used wafers and pretzel sticks as the fencing. I make awesome caramel toffee appels which were decorated with smarties, hundreds and thousands and jelly tots.
For games we played musical chairs but using pats of hay and each one then got their party pack as a gift. I made a piƱata which is SOOO easy and they vented their frustrations breaking it and getting the loot inside. Lastly, the moms got involved and we all played pin the tail on the horse and each person then got their rosettes. There is a load of lovely information on the internet and with just a bit of practical creative thinking, you can pull it off on a shoestring budget and have fun planning and preparing too. Yeeaaahhhh!!!!!!!!

Gardening Party - 3 years

October 2009

For my daughter's third birthday, we decided to do a gardening party! For the invitations, I cut out brightly coloured cardboard flowers. The center of the flower held all the details of the party. The invitation ended with a little rhyme which said: Come along, without a care - we'd really dig if you'll be there!

To set the mood, we stuck large cut out cardboard flowers on the trees in the garden.

As the guests arrived, each child was given a jelly cup with a plastic garden creature hidden inside - butterflies for

the girls and frogs for the boys. We had a large brightly coloured flower photoboard for photos, where the center of the flower was the hole for the kids to peep through.

When all our guests had arrived, we commenced our party activity: we planted flowers.

I bought several trays of seedlings from our local nursery. The children were each given a second-hand ceramic pot (sold at the botanical gardens for R10 each!) They also each received a little plastic spade labelled with their name.

They each planted three seedlings in their pots creating beautiful bright arrangements which they could take home as party souveneirs.

As an added extra, they could also "plant" plastic garden creatures and paper umbrellas in their pots.

We used brightly coloured watering cans to water their little gardens - and these turned out to be the hit of the day!

Soon it was time for the birthday cake and party packs!

Each party pack was a plain brown paper bag tagged with a big bright paper flower which had each child's name written on it. The party packs were filled with an assortment of healthy snacks.

We ended off our party with play time on the jungle-gym. All in all a really fun day!

Marie - 2 years

July 2009

Well this is the party we had! The theme was Marie from Disney's Aristocats,
we made a heart shaped cake with a Marie rice paper picture on it, we bought a white cat that looked like Marie and put a ribbon on it. There were lots and lots of balloons which the children loved and a jumping castle. I made little colouring in books and gave each kiddie a box of crayons to take home with the book. I made buckets with lots of sweets and little toys in and it had Marie stickers inside as well. The kids really enjoyed that too! The buckets had pink ribbon on and had a Marie sticker on the lid, unfortunately I don't have a picture of that. We made her name out of polystyrene and painted it. I bought two cat shaped bowls and painted them and put some glitter on them for the marshmallows.
We had a great time - now I need to start planning for birthday number three!
Thanks for the opportunity to share this with you!
