Minnie Mouse

I combined the theme with polka dots seeing that Minnie’s skirt has polka dots on it.

Megan (birthday girl) will be the only one with a pink shirt to look just like Minnie.

Made Minnie and Mickey mouse stands so that we can take a picture of each kid at the theme boards.

I made little skirts for each girl and asked the Mommy's to make sure all the kids has white shirts on.

The cake was in the shape of Mickey Mouse

I made centre pieces out of polystyrene balls and alls made small Minnie/Mickey mouse heads for the party packs.

I made these chocolate "Thank you"
I really enjoyed every moment of it and the girls loved their skirts.

PLAAS PARTYTJIE / Farm Party

March 2010

Dis partytjie tyd.

Sommer gesmelte sjokolade in plaas diere gemaak.

Die hoenders, koeie en ander diere vorms is deur die kinders ingekleur tydens die partytjie. Maklike manier om hulle te kry om stil te sit vir ‘’n paar minute.

Balkie vir die eregas.

Marie - 2 years

July 2009

Well this is the party we had! The theme was Marie from Disney's Aristocats,
we made a heart shaped cake with a Marie rice paper picture on it, we bought a white cat that looked like Marie and put a ribbon on it. There were lots and lots of balloons which the children loved and a jumping castle. I made little colouring in books and gave each kiddie a box of crayons to take home with the book. I made buckets with lots of sweets and little toys in and it had Marie stickers inside as well. The kids really enjoyed that too! The buckets had pink ribbon on and had a Marie sticker on the lid, unfortunately I don't have a picture of that. We made her name out of polystyrene and painted it. I bought two cat shaped bowls and painted them and put some glitter on them for the marshmallows.
We had a great time - now I need to start planning for birthday number three!
Thanks for the opportunity to share this with you!

Springbok Rugby Party - 2 years

April 2009

It was my grandson's 2nd birthday on 1/3/2009. We invited all the little ones with their moms and dads to our Springbok Rugby party.

The invites were made by myself. I took a photo of my grandson in his fully dressed Springbok rugby clothes and hat and made the invitations on the PC with the background as washout and the invitation on the washout paper. I made a small invitation and rolled it up. I put the rolled up invitation into a Springbok Rugby balloon. This I then put into a small envelope which I also made. The idea was for the parents to blow up the balloon and then prick it to get to the invitation.

The Big day was the afternoon at 14:00. In front of the yard we had some balloons and streamers and a big banner to tell everybody that the rugby game begins at 14:00.

My son bought two Rugby poles (blow up ones) and he laid out a small rugby field in the back yard. We had banners, balloons, umbrellas, a water slide and gazebo.

We also baked a rugby cake for him and the take away / party packs were Springbok paper bags with sweeties, snacks etc... Each child also got a certificate to take home.

All the little ones and the parents (including grandpa and ma) were wearing Springbok jerseys. It was a big success! Everything went well and they all enjoyed it so much.

Butterfly Party - 2 years

We chose to have a butterfly party for our daughter because that was the theme of her bedroom at the time, and this made decorating much easier. The handwritten invites said: Beautiful Butterfly, flying so free, please come to E's 2nd birthday tea. We're sure to have such splendid fun, we'd really love for you to come! So flutter on by on July 8 - Arrive at 3 - you won't be late. Choose ONE colour you'd like to wear and sprinkle glitter in your hair. All the details are below. If you can come, please let us know! The venue was called The Butterfly Farm with our address, and the RSVP was to the Mom-arch Butterfly. My daughters helped me make a HUGE cardboard
butterfly for our front door, covered in a collage of sparkly birthday confetti. I found a sheet of wrapping paper covered in hundreds of different types of butterflies. I cut these out and stuck them onto fruit-flavoured sweets that were hidden all over the garden for the treasure hunt. I made small
bags of coloured pop-corn, pinched and tied in the middle with a pipe-cleaner to form the body and antennae of a butterfly. These were suspended from a tree and looked like a swarm of butterflies hovering over the garden. Each child got a packet to take home. The first activity was to colour simple butterfly pictures to take home. When the colouring was done, each child got a sprinkling of sparkly butterfly stickers on their cheeks and hands. They were very proud of these!
Then it was off to find as many butterfly sweets hidden in the garden as they could. When they were done, the kids were rewarded with their very own butterfly antenna (alice bands with pipe-cleaner feelers). Then it was time for an interactive story. I took a large appliance box, painted it white and created a canvas for a story on it. The story started with a big tree on one side, and I proceeded to tell an adapted version of the Very Hungry Caterpillar. As the story went, the box showed pictures of different things that the caterpillar ate on his way around the garden. Each picture had a special little door that opened to reveal a sweet, a block of cheese,
a lolly pop - anything edible I could attach in the space behind the door. The kids each took turns to open a door and retrieve the treat behind it. The story ended with the caterpillar turning into a butterfly, at which point, from inside the box, we brought out a pair of butterfly wings for each little guest - they had turned into butterflies too! We ended off with a simple yet very effective looking butterfly birthday cake, made from a double layered, round sponge cake and decorated with bright sweets and icing.
